I studied AAT and qualified in 2000 while working for an accountancy firm in Cambridge. Much of my role involved processing the monthly bookkeeping requirements for small businesses and producing year end accounts and tax returns. In 2012, after starting a family, I took over the bookkeeping tasks for an electrical contracting business, which allowed me to work from home around family life. I then transferred my qualification over to the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) in 2021 and started my own bookkeeping and accounts practice.
I support Dartcell’s clients with their day-to-day bookkeeping needs, which includes reconciling, raising sales invoices, and credit control, as well as preparing monthly management accounts, looking at cashflow, VAT returns, payroll on Xero, BrightPay and SafeHR, preparing and submitting year end accounts where necessary.
Every business is different, which keeps my job interesting! It’s great to be able to advise clients on ways they can improve their processes to make their inner workings more efficient.
Much of my time outside of work is spent with my family. I have 2 children, aged, 10 and 12, so they keep me busy with their football and horse-riding pursuits.
